[SOLVED] Login screen goes black after upgrade to Ubuntu 13.04

I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 12.10 to Ubuntu 13.04. It went successfully. After I restarted my computer, I get a black screen at the time of login. Hence, I am unable to insert my login to my computer. However, I was able to login in recovery mode.

I googled for solutions. Used the keywords like “login screen goes black ubuntu 13.04”, “monitor turns off at login ubuntu 13.04”, “login screen turns off ubuntu 13.04”, etc. After spending some hours searching and implementing some solutions regarding this issue, I finally came to this thread “My computer boots to a black screen, what options do I have to fix it?” which solved my problem. This thread contains many solutions regarding this kind of issue. It also contains a solution that helped me although it’s a bit silly one. Anyway, it helped. :-)

Well, it a very silly problem for me. Nothing serious with the graphics driver or login manager. My computer is HP Pavilion and it was an issue with the screen brightness. I just had to increase the screen brightness and then the black screen problem was solved. Due to lowest screen brightness settings, the screen had gone black. After I increased the screen brightness by pressing “Fn+F8”, I could see the login screen and then was able to login to the system.
