Poll: Who will win the FIFA World Cup 2014?

Through this poll, I am trying to analyze how the voting and team rankings fluctuates as the world cup progresses. I started this poll exactly one month before the world cup. I will be publishing the result and ranking of teams with votes after each stage of the tournament.

The poll is at the end of this article. If you want to skip this analysis then you can directly go the poll: Vote Now

This poll was published on May 12, 2014; exactly one month before the start of FIFA World Cup 2014. In one month of voting (from May 12 to June 12): Brazil and Argentina, the two South American countries are hot favorites. Germany and Spain, the two European countries come next.

Top 10 teams just before the World Cup (on June 12, 2014) with votes percentage

TeamsPercentage (%)
Brazil31.58
Argentina22.19
Germany14.71
Spain8.62
Portugal4.25
England3.87
Italy3.11
Netherlands2.16
Belgium1.59
France1.08

Let’s see whether these countries remain on top after the start of the World Cup as well. Result can change based on the performance of the teams.

Update after first stage/group stage (June 27, 2014):

Netherlands has gone up in the ranking due to it’s good performance and stunning win over the defending champion Spain. England’s rank has gone down due to its poor performance as they go home without even winning a game at group stage.

Here is the list of top 10 teams in ranking after group stage match:

TeamsPercentage (%)
Brazil28.93
Argentina22.04
Germany16.63
Spain6.93
Netherlands6.04
Portugal3.78
Italy3.04
England2.85
Belgium1.63
France1.41

I assume that the ranking will change now as four teams (Spain, Portugal, England and Italy) present in the top 10 ranking are out of the world cup.

Vote now if you have not voted yet. Share it after you have voted. :-)
