Free Online Tool to Create Word Cloud Images from Text

Wordle is a very cool & free online tool to create your own word clouds from the text/words you provide. You can provide your own bunch of words or this site also has the feature to generate automatic word cloud from the link of any webpage you provide.

Here is what the site has to say:-

– You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes.
– The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like.
– You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.

While creating word cloud, some general questions that might occur in mind are:-

How do I make one word bigger than another?

The size of a word in the visualization is proportional to the number of times the word appears in the input text. So, for example, if you type

apple banana banana grape grape grape

into the create page’s text field, you’ll see that banana’s font size is twice apple’s, and grape’s font size is 3/2 that of banana’s.

Can I keep some words together? Can I visualize two-word phrases?

Yes! You can use either the Unicode “non-breaking space” character or the tilde character ~ between words that go together. The tilde will be converted to a space when drawing the words, and the words will be treated as a single word.

You might have other questions as well. For that, you can view their FAQ page.

Have Fun!
